Starting Saturdays from 11a-1p coaches Michael Sampson (he/him) and Jenn Schaal (she/her) will be offering Powerlifting Club!

Powerlifting club is open to EVERYONE, and we highly encourage you to attend this time if you are interested in learning more about the sport of powerlifting. Powerlifting is Bench Press, Back Squat and Deadlift. Often, members of our powerlifting club will be training for meets, but it is not required that you compete to be part of this class.

The format of this 2-hour session is like a structured open gym. There is a coach on the floor and recommended workout on the board. You can utilize the coach as much or as little as you need during that time.

Picture this: you walk in the doors and see the workout on the board. You ask the coach a few questions about what you read and what the recommended weight might be. Or maybe you ask “what is that thing?” and they talk you through it. You warm-up and work on your lifts at your pace. You share a bar and a rack with someone. You make a few new friends. You workout for as long as you’d like in those two hours. Maybe you all go get lunch after. It’s A DREAM COME TRUE.

You can do what’s written for you, or you can work on some programming you missed from the week. The goal is to build community around lifting in this style. You will learn lots of new things about the sport, about how to compete, about how to lift with certain technique, and much more.
