Have you heard about kombucha*? Do you drink the stuff from the stores? Isn’t it tasty? And… kinda expensive? Do you have a friend that makes their own and it seems a little scary, yet you find yourself intrigued?

Come to the kombucha workshop from 2 to 3 PM at Solcana Wellness (2200 Minnehaha Ave) on Saturday, September 17th and let me teach you how simple, easy, CHEAP and not scary it is to make your OWN kombucha!

There are only 20 spots open in this workshop, so sign up now using the form below. The workshop is open to anyone and everyone, so bring a friend and share the fermented love! You’ve gotta reserve by Monday, September 12th so I can make sure we have supplies for all interested parties!

  • WHERE: Community room at Solcana Wellness (2200 Minnehaha Ave, using the door along 22nd ST)
  • WHEN: 2 to 3 PM Saturday, September 17th
  • COST: $20 (Solcana members will have cost charged to their WODify accounts, all other participants can bring cash day of)

We’ll be tasting different flavors of kombucha, you’ll get a scoby, see how its made, learn different techniques and HAVE SO MUCH FUN! We’ll be mad scientists, because making kombucha makes you feel like that. Once you have one scoby, you can keep using it and be making a new batch every two weeks or so–that’s THREE QUARTS of kombucha per batch for the cost of one cup of sugar and 4 tea bags–that’s way cheaper than $3.99 for 16 ounces at the store.

*So what exactly is kombucha? It’s a fermented tea. The fermentation process is natural, due to the kombucha SCOBY you plop into the liquid. This scoby is a Symbiotic Colony Of Bacteria and Yeast (get it?), and you’ll get one at the workshop. The internal process of a kombucha fermentation is slower than say making beer or wine, therefore it isn’t alcoholic (there may be up to .5% alcohol that bottled kombucha must list, but that number can be even lower with homemade kombucha). It’s a beverage that is full of good bacteria and yeast, which is a great and tasty way to support a happy gut. A happy gut has a big effect on regulating mood, energy levels and easy digestion! Who knew a bubbly drink could be so majestic?
