OutdoorFrontThe 2016 Solcana Outdoor Program is coming up!

From June 1st to September 2nd there will be outdoor classes in Matthews Park (corner of 27th Ave S and E 25th St – just a half mile from Solcana) at 6pm Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

This program welcomes people of all experience levels. It’s perfect for:

  • people who have wanted to try Crossfit but can’t afford a membership
  • people looking to get fit for the summer and spend some time outdoors
  • people who have been a little intimidated by training and want to ease into it

But make no mistake – the Outdoor Program is not just a bunch of casual aerobics out in the sun. Regardless of our current fitness level we will be working hard, getting stronger and faster, learning new skills, and improving our cardiovascular engines. Last year we did a TON of different things. We had partner workouts, sprint work, sled pushing, farmer carries, entire workouts that took place up and down a hill, kettlebell and dumbbell workouts, agility drills, yoga, even some games thrown in here and there. I have a million more ideas for this year, and we will have some new toys as well.  

On top of the fun outdoor atmosphere, the group gets to bond over the summer and the program becomes an extension of the awesome community that we see in the regular gym. It becomes a bunch of friends sweating in the sun (and sometimes the rain), cheering each other on and supporting one another. I won’t forget last year we had a very tough partner workout near the end of summer. One of the athletes was partnered with Danielle (who is now totally killing it as a regular member of Solcana!) and said “There is no way I could have finished that workout if Danielle wasn’t cheering me on!” It was great to see the same kind of support we offer each other at Solcana in another environment.

Membership is just $350 up front for the whole program, or you can pay monthly at $125/month.  

If you’re a Solcana member, these classes are built in to your membership. Go ahead and just show up! It’s a great opportunity to get outside and do some things you may not run into at the regular gym. We don’t use any barbells, but I promise you’ll feel like you’ve worked out afterward – and then some!
