Solcana blog

Happy April Solcanauts! We have jumped head first into the spring cycle and it is going splendidly so far. Now that we have entered a new month it’s time to set some new goals AND announce our April athletes of the month. This month we are honoring Charlie Delbridge and Amy Highness

Charlie has been lobbying for the position of Athlete of the Month for a long time now. Originally Charlie came to us when we were newly opened and was a member for about a year before he moved. However, he couldn’t stay away for long because only 4 months later he returned to us! Charlie is now back in action, full steam ahead, crushing weights at 5:30 in the morning with his Fiance, and new member, Amber. I am proud to call Charlie a solcanaut because I think he easily represents everything we stand for. He is kind, considerate and thoughtful. For the open team challenge, Charlie led his team Michelle Obama’s Arms to a victory, mostly by constantly encouraging his teammates to participate and have fun, but also by putting 100% into every workout. In addition to those qualities, Charlie is also a hard-working lawyer and an intellectual. He brings his intellectual nature into the gym by being a student of fitness and always looking for ways that he can personally improve. We appreciate you Charlie, congrats on finally getting that AOTM crown you have been working for!

Amy!
Amy!

Amy is an evening person who has only been with us for a few months, but has left a big impression on every coach and athlete that has worked with her. Amy came in ready for a change and has not looked back. She not only works hard on her CrossFit gains, she has also found a deeper connection to the mobility program and worked on her food game with Essential You. Amy is putting in the time and the work, and it is inspiring to witness. Amy is also funny and friendly and just a great human being. When she walks into the gym she brings a glowing energy with her that is palpable. Even though Amy is new, she participated in the open challenge with her team HAMMstands and totally crushed it. She was consistent in her scores while still challenging herself every time. It’s so impressive to watch someone who is new take on the challenge of the open with such gusto! Great job Amy, we are so happy to have you in the family!
