I can’t believe it has already been a year! The season of the 5k is upon us. This year we’re having our Third Annual Solcana 5k and it’s bringing a (new, first-ever) 10k with it.
For those of you who haven’t experienced the Solcana 5k before, it’s a fun experience for all fitness levels. You can complete the course however you like. In the past we’ve had people run all-out, people walk the entire thing, and a multitude of combinations in between. Whatever you choose to do, there will be others doing that same thing.
This year the 5k will change routes and we will be going around Lake Harriet. After everyone is finished, we’ll head over to the Linden Hills Sebastian Joe’s and have some ice cream and refreshments. This event has always been a great time, and this year is no different!
The Solcana 5k will be on Sunday, July 9th. Running will begin at 9am.
Looking for an added challenge beyond the 5k? Want a reason to up your running game? Maybe you just want something to do on a random Sunday morning in August? Maybe you should try the first Solcana 10k! The 10k will travel a route that goes around both Lake Calhoun and Lake of the Isles. Again, this is open to all fitness levels, and should be a beautiful bit of scenery in the crisp, August morning air. Doesn’t that sound nice?
Just like the 5k, afterward we will all head to the Franklin Ave Sebastian Joe’s and enjoy some friendship and treats.
The Solcana 10k is Sunday, August 27th. Running will begin at 9am.
Both events will be free of charge with the option to donate to our Ericka Fund.
In March, we mourned the unexpected loss of not only a great friend but an important part of our gym community, Ericka Stewart. As part of remembering her and the impact she made on so many of us, donations to the Ericka Fund will go toward providing one individual with a one-year scholarship membership to Solcana Fitness.
Suggested donation is $20, but please contribute in any way you can.
