Solcana blog

I want to express just how grateful I am for the 2nd Anniversary Day-of-Fun. It was such a smashing success and it has quickly become my favorite day of the year. I love being able to compete and workout alongside all of you, plus it was exhilarating to watch so many people hit PR’s and do things they had never done before. I want to send a big thank you to Colette, Jake and Lauren for helping to run the show. Also, thank you to Matt and Molly for stepping in and being partners with people who didn’t have one. Thank you to the rest of you for bringing food, having fun and showing great team spirit.

I also want to thank Nate for being the best business partner in the world and always doing the things I don’t like to do (like cleaning, nailing things to walls and glueing the floor back in place). Thank you to Nicole for being our social chair and helping me plan all the fun things we do. Thank you to Morgen and Jerik for being my right and left hand people and making it possible for the gym to flourish while I still maintain some semblance of sanity. Thank you to all the coaches who have been with us since the beginning, and the ones we have picked up along the way. Solcana is a special place because you curate your classes to be beautiful and loving experiences each and every day, even when you’re tired or sore.

Lastly, thank you to all you Solcanauts past and present. I had this dream that there could be a place where people could lift heavy weights and be really nice. I wanted to build a gym that made room for the weirdos and provided a safe place to have fun, make friends and get fit. It was and is a dream that I couldn’t build on my own, it took the right people to commit completely. It took a community of people who find it absolutely vital to love and support one another. It took a little bit of idealism and a lot of elbow grease. Every person who is a member of Solcana has provided the necessary pieces to make this dream into a reality and I am so indebted to you for that. Thank you for being kind, considerate, willing to grow and ready to step out of your comfort zones.

I have learned so much in the last two years, and I look forward to every anniversary to come.
